o Report: Global Storage
Hardware Sales Grow by 5.7%
Stamford, Conn. -- According to new research
by Gartner, an IT market
analysis firm based in Stamford, global sales of data storage gear grew
by
5.7% last year and this year appear to be on target for 7.9% growth. "The

the fourth quarter was particularly strong," said Roger Cox, a vice

have been saying, which is that the economy is getting a little better."
Gartner said that sales of external, controller-based disk storage came
to
nearly $13 billion last year, up from $12.2 billion the previous year.
EMC
led the market with a 20.6% share, followed by HP (18.6%), IBM (13.1%),
